Udo Dirkschneider is one of the leading vocalists in the German heavy metal scene. From the late 70s to the 90s, he left behind numerous masterpieces as the frontman of Accept, and their 5th album, "Balls to the Wall," released in 1983, charted at number 74 on the US Billboard charts. As you all know, their subsequent album, "Metal Heart," is revered as a historical masterpiece here in Japan as well. Since then, Udo has released numerous albums as the leader of U.D.O. In 2022, he also released a cover album under the name Udo Dirkschneider. Their performance in Japan this past April is still fresh in our memories. Now, the album being released is U.D.O.'s first album in two years, titled "Touchdown." The highlight of this album, their first since moving to Atomic Fire Records, is undoubtedly the participation of Peter Baltes. Peter, who had been the bassist for Accept for many years, left the band in 2018. After that, he worked with Udo and former Accept guitarist Stefan Kaufmann as Dirkschneider and the Old Gang, but he has finally officially joined U.D.O. The reunion of the Udo & Peter duo alone will excite heavy metal fans, but the album itself is even more intense.
