Content Introduction Japanese extreme metal band Sy has released their 12th album. The band boasts a super-powerful lineup with Fr?d?ric Leclerc (Creator, formerly of DragonForce) on guitar and bass, and Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Raven) on drums! The entire album uses Japanese lyrics and thoroughly expresses the fear of death. The Japanese edition includes two bonus tracks. Sy is a Japanese extreme metal band. Its formation dates back to 1990. After producing several demos, they signed with the now-deceased Deathlike Silence Productions of Euronymous (Mayhem). In 1993, they released their debut album, "Scorn Defeat." (Unfortunately, Euronymous was murdered shortly before its release.) After that, they signed with Cacophonas Records, which discovered Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. Released in 1997, their third album, "Hail Horror Hail," was selected as one of the "100 Most Important Albums of the 90s" by British magazine Terrorizer. Since then, Sy has moved between labels such as Century Media, The End Records, and Candlelight Records, releasing 11 albums to date. Now, after a four-year hiatus, they are releasing their 12th album, "Shiki." This album, their first since moving to Darkthroat's home label Peaceville, features a formidable lineup of musicians: creator and former DragonForce member Fr?d?ric Leclerc (G, B), and Mike Heller (Dr) of Fear Factory and Raven, supporting Mirai Kawashima (Vo, Key, Flute, etc.). While Sy's music seems to change with each album, this time, featuring a rare Japanese-style artwork, there's a sense of returning to their early black metal sound. That said, with Kawashima himself playing the shakuhachi and tanpura, it's still full of the same old feeling of leaving the listener behind. This album, with its titles that have countless meanings in Japanese, such as "Death Time," "Four Seasons," "Personal Notes," "Ceremony," and "Shiki (corpse demon)," uses Japanese lyrics throughout and thoroughly expresses the fear of death. Mixing and mastering by Lasse Rammelt (Aylstorm, Lucid, etc.). The Japanese edition includes two bonus tracks.
