Pretty Maids, a leading Danish heavy metal band, shocked fans in 2020 when their vocalist, Ronnie Atkins, announced he had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. However, Ronnie, who chose to "stay strong, set goals, and continue living to pursue his dreams," created his first solo album, "One Shot." Featuring numerous guests, including current and former Pretty Maids members, this album is a magnificent culmination of his work. Ronnie continues to demonstrate his unwavering spirit. Ronnie James Dio's second solo album, "Make It Count," following "One Shot," is now complete! While he says he still feels like he's racing against time because of his diagnosis, he claims this album was made "in exactly the same way as the last one." Ronnie, who says he's not feeling unwell, continued writing songs on piano and guitar after completing "One Shot," sending the finished tracks to Chris Rainey for arrangement. While his previous album was entirely remote due to COVID-19, this time he was able to work face-to-face with other musicians. Ronnie always insists that melody is his top priority, and this is clearly evident in this album. And of course, once again, he's backed by a stellar lineup of musicians, including current and former Pretty Maids members Chris Rainey, Alan S?rensen, and Morten Sandager, as well as Pontus Egberg (King Diamond), Oliver Hartmann (formerly of At Vance), John Berg, Anders Ringmann, and Linnea Wikstr?m. Like "One Shot," "Make It Count" is a superb example of melodic hard rock. As with its predecessor, the mixing and mastering were handled by Jacob Hansen.
