Content Introduction The aroma of vintage rock transcending half a century. The third installment of a bluesy, psychedelic sonic trip led by Erin Larson's female shouts! Blues Pills, a Swedish & American hybrid unit, was formed in ?rebro, Sweden in 2011. Their sound, which adds a modern edge to old-fashioned blues hard rock and West Coast American psychedelia, and the soulful and emotional vocals of Erin Larson, who has been called "the reincarnation of Janis Joplin," have taken the world by storm. They have released two studio albums, "Blues Pills" (2014) and "Lady in Gold" (2016), as well as several live albums that showcase their skills as stage performers. "Lady in Gold" was a hit, reaching number 1 on the German national charts and number 2 in Sweden. Now, as one of the leading bands representing modern hard rock, they release their 3rd studio album, "Holy Molly!", after a four-year hiatus. With "Proud Woman," a powerful declaration of women's liberation, they sing of a liberated woman, and with "California," a sound that evokes the Summer of Love, they recreate the fervor of the 1960s. However, without resorting solely to retro, their raw and dynamic performance feels as if they are performing live right in front of you. From "Wish I'd Known," featuring Erin's passionate vocals and a gospel choir, the entire album is filled with soul-stirring numbers, suggesting that the style they experimented with in their previous two albums has reached a culmination. Zack Anderson has switched from bass to guitar, and Christopher Schander has joined as the new bassist. The vision of original members Zack and Erin has become even clearer, and the exhilaration, like swallowing "blues pills," is a naturally high trip. Self-produced by the band themselves, this album packages their raw stage performance, brimming with the energy of their live shows that Japanese fans have yet to see. The album artwork is by Daria Hrazatova, an artist residing in Ukraine. Her style, a fusion of American West Coast poster art and Aubrey Beardsley, exudes a nostalgic yet mysterious charm.
