Formed in ?rebro, Sweden in 2000, their vintage doom rock, inspired by Bobby Liebling of Pentagram and Rocky Erickson of 13th Floor Elevators, has garnered a cult following, leading to their debut on Rise Above Records, run by Lee Dorrian of Cathedral. Their February 2008 performance in Japan has become legendary. This album, "Black Metal," their third since moving to Nuclear Blast, the world's largest metal label, and their sixth overall, marks a departure from their previous hard-rock sound, pursuing a psychedelic folk direction centered around Magnus's acoustic guitar and vocals. This album carries on Sweden's rich underground psychedelic folk tradition dating back to the 1960s, unleashing it upon the world of 2020. Despite its title, it's not a typical black metal sound, nor does it differ significantly from Venom's album of the same name, effectively creating a sense of instability that shatters the listener's preconceived notions.
