Paul's passionate message and heartfelt melodies are now being unleashed from Las Vegas to the world!! LA metal heavyweight Paul Shortino presents a masterpiece of Las Vegas hard rock, featuring Nozomu Wakai! Paul Shortino is a central singer in LA metal, having been active since the 1980s with bands like Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot, and King Cobra. He was recognized early on by Ronnie James Dio and appeared in the legendary film "Spinal Tap" (1984). He has also performed on major stages in Japan, including "SUPER ROCK '85" (1985) and "JAPAN AID 2" (1987). In recent years, he has based himself in Las Vegas and has remained at the forefront of the scene, serving as main vocalist alongside Robin McAuley [Michael Schenker Fest] at the all-star rock event "Raiding the Rock Vault." Shortino released his first album as Shortino in 2009, produced by Michael Voss. And Nozomu Wakai is a new generation guitar hero attracting attention from around the world. As Nozomu Wakai's DESTINIA, he produced the album "METAL SOULS" (2018) with Ronnie Romero [vocals/Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow / Michael Schenker Fest / Vandenberg], Tommy Aldridge [drums/Whitesnake / Ozzy Osbourne Band], and Marco Mendoza [bass/Whitesnake / Blue Murder / The Dead Daisies], and his classic-modern style has received high praise worldwide. More recently, he has also announced that he will be providing music for Alcatrazz. Paul and Wakai first collaborated in November 2016 at the "Steel Festival Vol. 2" in Tokai City. Following the success of this live performance, they held solo concerts in Tokyo and Osaka in June 2017 as the Paul Shortino Band. They felt a musical chemistry with each other, and Wakai traveled to Las Vegas to begin working on a studio album. And so, the album "Make a Wish" was finally completed. This album, a full collaboration between Paul and Wakai, is filled with positive messages and moving melodies from beginning to end. Uplifting hard numbers such as "Shout and Pride" and "Rise Up and Be Strong" are full of the pride and spirit of a rocker moving forward with his head held high. Paul's shouts and Wakai's soaring guitar playing are in top form. The album's title track, "Make a Wish," is a heartfelt ballad depicting lovers making a wish upon a star, and Paul's compelling vocals and Wakai's emotional lead playing will ignite a spark in the listener's heart. Furthermore, "Eyes of the Wizard" and "Nocturnal" present a dark fantasy worldview that inherits the spirit of the late Ronnie James Dio. "Send in the Clowns," a musical number famously sung by Frank Sinatra, has been brilliantly revived in a heavy version. Having recently gained renewed attention after its use in the film "Joker" (2019), this cover is perfectly timed and perfectly suited to the times. This album is also an all-star collection, featuring musicians who resonated with the spirit of the two artists. One of the highlights is the striking drumming of the late Vinnie Paul [drums | Pantera], who sadly passed away while living in Las Vegas. His explosive beat on "Send in the Clowns" is imbued with an eternal sense of life. Furthermore, the album features a powerful lineup of musicians, primarily from Las Vegas, including Peter Baltes [bass | Accept], Phil Soussan [bass | Ozzy Osbourne], Jay Schellan [drums | Yes], Marco Mendoza [bass | Destinia], Doug Aldrich [guitar | Whitesnake / Dio / The Dead Daisies], Carlos Cavazo [guitar | Quiet Riot], Rowan Robertson [guitar | Dio], Uriah Duffy [bass | Whitesnake], and many more, adding flair to the Las Vegas hard rock sound. This Shortino album, "Make-A-Wish," is Paul Shortino's magnum opus and a masterpiece of Las Vegas hard rock, born from the incorporation of the next generation's talent in Nozomu Wakai!
