Content Introduction Austrian symphonic power metal band Serenity releases their concept album "The Last Night"! A dramatic story themed around "The Life of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I" unfolds here! Serenity was formed in Austria in January 2001, centered around Mario Hilsinger (keyboards/vocals). Initially, the band name and musical style were different, but after repeated member changes, they began playing melodic heavy metal with progressive elements and changed their name to Serenity. However, their activities did not take off, and after a period of hiatus, they resumed activities in earnest in 2004 with members Mario, Andreas Schipfflinger (drums), Georg Newhauser (vocals), Thomas Buchberger (guitar), and Simon Holsnecht (bass). After their demos and live performances were well-received, the band signed with Napalm Records and debuted with the album "Words Untold & Dream Unlived" (2007). Their dramatic melodic power metal with symphonic elements was highly praised, leading to the release of their second album "Fallen Sanctuary" (2008) and third album "Death & Legacy" (2011). Following the album release, the band welcomed bassist Fabio D'Amore and expanded their live activities, but the band's founder, Mario, left. They then added female singer Cl?mentine Delaunay and released their fourth album "War of Ages" (2013) with a male and female twin vocal style. This album, which was more mystical than ever before, was well-received, but Clementine left the band, and the 4-piece lineup, with Chris Harmsdorfer on guitar, released their 5th album, "Codex Atlanticus" (2016). This concept album, themed around Leonardo da Vinci, demonstrated the band's evolution, and in 2017 they released "Lionheart," a concept album themed around Richard I, the King of England who led the Third Crusade. Having thus established the concept album style, Serenity has now completed their 7th album, "The Last Night," which is also a concept album, themed around "the life of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I." The lyrical melodic power metal songs, which incorporate symphonic sounds in key places, feel more narrative than ever before, and the album is finished with depth in both its musical style and sound arrangement. Bonus tracks include an acoustic version of "Souls and Sins," a live take of the popular "Legacy of Tudors" from "War of Ages," and three other live tracks.
