Agnostic Front is a band that represents the New York hardcore scene. They are pioneers who made New York a mecca for hardcore, but they also have many fans in the world of extreme metal. Formed in 1980, centered around guitarist Vinnie Stigma, they released the EP 'United Blood' in 1983, and their debut album the following year, 1984, 'Victim in Pain', which is still talked about as an eternal masterpiece. New York, home to bands like the Ramones and Talking Heads, was originally a center of punk, but with the arrival of Bad Brains in New York and the emergence of Agnostic Front, the hardcore movement suddenly blossomed. Agnostic Front's name became well-known among metal fans with their 1986 second album, "Cause for Alarm." This album, in which Pete Steele, who would later achieve great success with Type O Negative, is said to have been deeply involved, is a masterpiece of crossover that fused metal and hardcore, and has etched its name into history. However, this move towards metal was apparently not entirely to the liking of the band's core members, and the metal elements rapidly disappeared from their third album onwards. After a period of disbandment in the 1990s, they released their fifth album, "Something's Gotta Give," on Epitaph Records in 1998. Since their eighth album, "Another Voice," in 2004, they have moved to Nuclear Blast, a major European label, and have continued to release albums consistently. The album being released now is their twelfth album, "Get Loud!", their first in four years. As vocalist Roger Millett has stated, this album is "a culmination of our career," and it's a truly Agnostic Front-esque work rooted in punk and hardcore. What particularly stands out is the abundance of thrash elements, or more directly, the strong resemblance to "Cause for Alarm." This is clearly reflected in the album's artwork. As Agnostic Front fans will immediately recognize, the album cover was designed by Sean Taggart. The artwork features the return of characters from "Cause for Alarm," bringing back the excitement of that era.
