In Flames, a top-tier melodic death metal band that made headlines for introducing lyrical melodic lines into aggressive death metal, have reunited with members who had connections to In Flames to form a new band, The Halo Effect, and released their debut album, "Days of the Lost." In 2020, when the world was forced to stagnate amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, five old friends put into action an idea they had been nurturing for a long time. With this album, their aim was to recapture the atmosphere they had when they first started making music in the early 90s. A revival of Gothenpoli-born melodic death metal, this album, comprised of 10 tracks, embodies that spirit. The Japanese edition includes a special bonus track prepared by them for Japan, featuring Matthew Heafy of Trivium on track 9. The participating members are Jesper Stromblad (guitar), the founder of In Flames and a member from their debut album "Lunar Strain" to their ninth album "Sense of Purpose"; Peter Iwers (bass), who joined from their first tour of Japan in 1998 and was a member from their fourth album "Colony" to their twelfth album "Battles"; Daniel Svensson (drums), who joined in 1998 and was a member from their fourth album "Colony" to their eleventh album "Siren Charms"; Niclas Engelin (guitar), who accompanied them on their first tour of Japan in 1998, joined in 2011 after Jesper's departure and participated until their thirteenth album "I, The Mask"; and Mikael Stanne, currently of Dark Tranquility, who participated in their debut album "Lunar Strain".
