Synopsis: This is the pinnacle of current pop music! MR TWIN SISTER, the experimental pop group based in NY, returns after four years! Their third album, arguably their best work to date, is complete! Having previously released works on Domino, and been compared to synth-pop, dream-pop, Cocteau Twins, and Portishead, and with their split single "Meet The Frownies" with Luyas released on Dead Oceans being sampled in Kendrick Lamar's "The Recipe Ft. Dr. Dre," they have gained support from a wide range of listeners across genres. Now, incorporating a jazzy taste, they have evolved further, reaching a unique hybrid pop sound. "Salt" is both the album title and the name of the marionette that leader Andrea Estella, pictured on the album cover, made herself from pearls, cloth, beads, wood, etc. "Salt" is imbued with a wide range of personal and social meanings, with lyrics that explore themes such as despair, isolation, love, self-loss, bankruptcy, surveillance, American consumerism, body image, gender inequality, pornography, and the secular spirit. While the sound is certainly an extension of her previous work, it showcases Andrea's even more expressive vocals, and utilizes her signature songwriting and arrangement skills to achieve a powerful and colorful evolution. The album kicks off with "Keep on Mixing," which features a delightful blend of exhilarating breakbeats and synths, dreamy electronics, and Andrea's energetic vocals, with an upbeat dance beat in the latter half. The following tracks, "Alien FM" and the seventh track, "Taste in Movies," showcase a new jazzy flavor, while "Koh-I-Noor" and "Buy to Return" maintain a sci-fi and mellow taste. The lead single, "Jaipur," which is said to be influenced by Indian pop, is a pop and danceable track where Andrea's sensual vocals, saxophone, and strings blend together over a tribal beat, occasionally interwoven with strings, and the music shifts in key. The album showcases a variety of sounds arranged in a perfect balance. In particular, Eric Cardona's sensual saxophone playing and the guest appearance of jazz-influenced drummer/percussionist Pablo Eluchans, who is featured at just the right moments, provide important accents and breathe new life into the sound. While retaining a dreamy texture, the unique hybrid and colorful pop sound, which skillfully blends various elements such as R&B, funk, jazz, disco, and electro, is truly one of a kind. It is sure to be one of the defining works of the second half of this year. The Japanese edition includes four tracks from the 2018 EP "Power of Two / Echo Arms" as bonus tracks. TRACK LIST: 01. About the Artists Based in Long Island, New York, the band consists of vocalist Andrea Estella (who also works as an actress, having been cast in the film adaptation of the popular TV drama series 'Veronica Mars'), bassist Gabe D'Amico, drummer Bryan Ujueta, and keyboardist Dev, who each played in different bands. "Udbhav" Gupta, along with guitarist/vocalist Eric Cardona, formed the band in 2008. At the time, they performed under the name Twin Sister. That same year, they released their first EP, "Vampires with Dreaming Kids." After their first live performance at SXSW and a tour with tUnE-YarDs and Xiu Xiu, they released their second EP, "Color Your Life," on Infinite Best. In 2011, they signed with Domino Records and released their first album, "In Heaven." While their career was progressing smoothly, in 2013 Andrea was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and suffered a car accident while on tour in Tallahassee, Florida. After some time to recover, with the help of producer Jon Low and members of Ava Luna, they recorded, established their own label Twin Group, changed their name to Mr Twin Sister, and completed their self-titled second album. After a period of inactivity, they finally made a comeback in 2018. Their third album, "Salt," which took four years to complete, was released. Bryan Ujueta has since left the band, and they are currently a four-member group.
