Nicholas Kergovich is a prodigy who has garnered enthusiastic support from numerous musicians both domestically and internationally, including David Byrne, Dirty Projectors, Laetitia Sadier (ex-Stereolab), Mount Ealy, Tara Jane O'Neill, Julie Dowaron, Akito Katayose, and Edi Marcon. Approximately five years have passed since his solo debut album "Nicholas Kergovich" (international title "On Sunset"), which was critically acclaimed for its songwriting and sound-making that skillfully blends contemporary R&B, the Great American Songbook, and 80's UK smooth pop (Prefab Sprout/Sade/The Blue Nile). Following their solo acoustic albums "Who Cares?" and "On Cahuenga," and "The Hills," which mainly consisted of bonus tracks from the Japanese edition of their first album, their long-awaited second original album is finally complete. This album features live-sounding basic tracks recorded with their UK label mates, Batsch, and is colorfully enhanced with a variety of guest appearances. Backing vocals by Dela Dorian, Chris Cohen, and Ramona Gonzalez (Night Jewel), who toured with them in Japan; keyboards by Chris Cummings aka Marker Sterling, who is also releasing a new album around the same time; pedal steel by B.J. Cole, who also participated in Marker's new album; and trombone by Peter Zummo, a close friend of the late Arthur Russell?everyone is perfectly suited to their role. Mixing was handled by the masterful John Collins (Destroyer, etc.), who also worked on their first solo album. The light melodies, soft textures, and sophisticated arrangements, infused with jazz and R&B influences, evoke not only his signature style but also Arthur Russell, Stereolab/The High Llamas, and later XTC. About the Artist: Born in Vancouver in 1982. Debuted as a member of the chamber pop group P:ano (piano). Since then, he has released a string of romantic, timeless, and high-standard works with various units, including No Kids, which incorporates contemporary R&B, and Gigi, which pays homage to girl pop/Brill Building. In 2012, he toured Japan for the first time with Mount Eerie and Tenniscoats. His first solo album, "Nicholas Kergovich," was released in Japan first in January 2013 (released overseas in 2014 under the title "On Sunset"), receiving high praise in various places. In 2015, he released a Japan-exclusive 2-in-1 CD, "Who Cares? + On Cahuenga," and returned to Japan with Dela Dorian (ex-Dirty Projectors).
