Product Description
Trey Gunn, the touch guitarist and bassist who was a member of King Crimson from the "double trio" formation in 1994 until the "double duo" formation ended in 2003. Bill Rieflin (who passed away in 2020), known as a multi-instrumentalist, joined Crimson from the 2014 reunion tour and played a key role in the triple drumming. And Robert Fripp, the great founder of King Crimson. Rieflin's solo album "Birth of a Giant," produced in 1999 with Fripp and Gunn participating, is now available for the first time as a domestic release in UHQCD paper jacket format! Exploring alternative rock, Rieflin fully demonstrates his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist, utilizing not only drums and percussion but also bass, synthesizers, and more. The album features experimental elements, such as a DIY, industrial sound combined with ethereal vocals reminiscent of David Sylvian. In addition to Gunn and Fripp, the album features other talented artists, including Chris Connelly, a close friend from their Ministry days, and Steve Ball, a graduate of Fripp's guitar workshop, "Guitar Craft / Guitar Circle." "As far as I know, Bill Rieflin had been working on the idea for this record for quite some time. He only told me about it after he had already started production. He had written many songs and had many ideas about what he wanted to do. One idea in particular stuck with me and influenced my performance on the record: Bill wanted something strange and unstable. He seemed to be looking for an otherworldly, electronically manipulated space as a context to put his voice on." - Trey Gunn
