Product Description
Soft Machine, a founding band of Canterbury scene music, has created an innovative sound that incorporates elements of various rock music genres such as psychedelic jazz and progressive rock. Their new album, created with a new lineup, is a tribute to the band's history and marks the maiden voyage of the reborn Soft Machine! Following the release of their 2023 album "Other Doors," drummer John Marshall passed away unexpectedly. The band welcomed Asaf Serkis, a top drummer in the British jazz scene, and continued their activities with a new lineup. After several concerts, they began recording a new album with this lineup. The completed album, their 13th, is simply titled "Thirteen." John Etheridge's technical and solid guitar playing and Theo Travis's emotional and lyrical horn playing are front and center, while Fred Baker and Asaf Serkis's vital rhythm section weaves together a sound reminiscent of Soft Machine's popular albums "Bundles" and "Softs." They also pay homage to the guitar sound of the late band's founder, David Allen.
