Toru Hashimoto (SUBURBIA), who has worked on many popular compilations such as "Free Soul," "Cafe Apres-midi," "Mellow Beats," "Good Mellows," "Jazz Supreme," "Music in the Landscape," "Incense Music," and the "Chillout Breeze" series, has supervised and selected the tracks for "Cafe Apres-midi Meets Studio Ghibli," a compilation of newly recorded covers of famous songs from Studio Ghibli films, brought to you by the supreme collaboration of artwork by FJD and mastering by Calm. The album will be released as a pre-release single, CD & digital album, 7-inch single, and LP from spring to summer 2026! In this work, Toru Hashimoto has selected famous songs from Ghibli films, and 12 artists with close ties to Cafe Apres-midi in Shibuya have newly recorded covers under his exquisite direction, themed around "the happiness of afternoon coffee." Among the many Ghibli cover collections produced to date, this is a special collection of masterpieces boasting some of the highest quality. Featuring illustrations by the painter and animator who work on Ghibli films, depicting scenes of Caf? Apr?s-midi in a gradient from 1 PM to 7 PM, the album (CD/LP) and six 7-inch singles, a total of seven works, are beautifully designed by FJD, and the mastering by Calm, who has paid meticulous attention to the sound image, is also outstanding. Shiho Sato (Background Artist) Joined Studio Ghibli in 2006. Currently active as a freelancer. Responsible for background art in Studio Ghibli films such as "Tales from Earthsea," "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea," "The Secret World of Arrietty," "The Wind Rises," and "When Marnie Was There." In addition to Ghibli works, she is a background artist who has worked on background art in representative Japanese anime works such as Mamoru Hosoda's "Summer Wars."
