Courtney Barnett, who quickly gained worldwide attention with her debut album "Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit" in 2015, and Kurt Vile, known as the original guitarist of The War on Drugs (who left in 2009) and a leading figure in the US indie scene with his 4th album "Smoke Ring For My Halo," have released a collaborative album! The track "Over Everything," which was just released, has already been named Pitchfork's "Best New Track," generating significant buzz. This album is like a candid conversation between two like-minded artists, overflowing with the mutual respect and love of music shared by Courtney and Kurt. "Over Everything," released alongside a music video featuring both artists and directed by filmmaker/photographer Danny Cohen, was the first song written for this collaboration and is a conversation between the two about songwriting and inspiration. The album also features appearances from Jim White and Mick Turner of Dirty Three, Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint, and Mick Harvey, a close friend of Nick Cave and also known as a member of The Birthday Party and The Bad Seeds. Furthermore, they have recorded covers of each other's songs, with Kurt taking the lead vocals on Courtney's "Outta the Woodwork" while Barnett provides backing vocals. The album also includes Courtney's solo cover of Kurt's "Peepin' Tomboy." This work is a document of two amazing singer-songwriters, Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile, truly enjoying making music, and that is what makes this work all the more special. The Japanese domestic CD release of Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile's collaborative album "Lotta Sea Lice" will include a limited edition sticker, liner notes, and lyrics translations.
