"Hana-Kimi" is a 23-volume shojo manga series that ran in "Hana to Yume" (Hakusensha) from 1996 to 2004, and has sold over 17 million copies in total. The school story, which follows Ashiya Mizuki who disguises his gender and transfers to an all-boys school in order to meet his crush Sano Izumi, has been adapted into dramas in Japan and various parts of Asia, and remains immensely popular even 20 years after the end of its serialization.
