Product Description
The monster band that definitively re-evaluated Swedish Trail Punk in the 2000s is back! And they've released a powerful new album! When they released their best-of album in 2019, many thought it was the culmination of their musical career and that they would only reunite occasionally from now on. But then in 2022, they suddenly uploaded new songs to Spotify, surprising many people who thought, "Wait, are these unreleased tracks?!" They then released two more new songs in quick succession, causing even more of a stir, and this album is the answer. They were supported by fans of the fast-paced melodic punk that was popular at the time, and they were quite well-known in Japan. Inheriting the genes of Radioaktiva R?ker, a leading Swedish Trall Punk band of the 90s, their sound features the killer, memorable single-string riffs characteristic of Trall Punk, along with a speed reminiscent of West Coast US melodic hardcore. It's like a faster version of Asta Kask, making it accessible even to hardcore fans who don't usually listen to melodic hardcore. And we can't forget Lastkaj 14, featuring members of Skumund, who, along with this band, ignited a Trall Punk resurgence throughout Sweden. Now, regarding the contents of this comeback album, it starts with a masterpiece that surpasses expectations, showcasing the true essence of VARNAGEL from the very first track. Then, melancholic melodies pour out one after another, and the songs explode with VARNAGEL's (or rather, Trall Punk's) signature dynamic shifts in tempo and dynamics! This is a quintessential Scandinavian melodic hardcore album! As the members themselves say, "While the boredom of the COVID-19 pandemic and various reflections about what's truly fun in life and who we want to hang out with were mixed together, the desire and inspiration to restart this band returned," this is a masterpiece packed with their musical career to date! We recommend that even those who have never listened to VARNAGEL before start with this album! This release is a collaboration with Beat Butchers, an important Swedish Trail Punk label that supported them in their later years. And, as a token of gratitude to Japan, where they've had a fan base since their early days, they've provided three bonus tracks! It also includes liner notes by Shivalium of TAKAHASHIGUMI, a Japanese Trail Punk band that has been in contact with them since their early demo releases. Paper jacket with band, lyrics and liner included [FOR FANS OF] SWEDEN TRALL PUNK, RADIOAKTIVA R?KER, R?SERBAJS, ASTA KASK, SKUMDUM/LASTKAJ 14 [TRACKLIST]01. Ensamvargtimmen 02.
