Formed in 1988 around former Pestilence guitarist Randy Meinhardt, they established their unique sound with three albums released in the early 1990s: 'Truth Is ? What Is', 'Recesses For The Depraved', and 'Tragic Intense', fusing technical thrash metal with melodic and dark lyricism. They gained a cult following for their high level of musicianship and intelligent songwriting, but ceased activity in the mid-1990s. However, in 2018, they surprised fans by breaking their 25-year silence with the album 'Necropolis'. SACROSANCT's fifth album, "Kidron," originally released in 2025, is now available in Japan. This album, their first in approximately seven years, features new vocalist Max Morton and is an ambitious work that further evolves the band's complex and heavy sound. While rooted in the sharpness of early thrash metal, it fuses melancholic melodies, dynamic vocals, and meticulously crafted arrangements, creating a unique world that combines the depth and catchiness of progressive metal. The title "Kidron" is derived from the Kidron Valley, located east of the Old City of Jerusalem. The lyrics explore grand themes of discovery, conflict, tragedy, and the emotions and historical shadows lurking within the human psyche. Max Morton, who has also worked on projects for Jinjer, handled production, mixing, and mastering, resulting in a sound that combines transparency and power, including real drums. With its heavy riffs and melodies, and tense, gripping song structures, 'Kidron' represents a new pinnacle in SACROSANCT's musical exploration and marks a particularly powerful chapter in the band's long history.
