Having loved music since childhood and with her talent recognized by those around her, her career was solidified by her encounter with Sarah Brightman. Deeply impressed by Brightman's style of singing pop music classically, she decided to train as a soprano at the Sibelius Academy. In 1996, she formed Nightwish with Tuomas Holopainen and others. The following year, 1997, they made their album debut with "Angel Falls First". Tarja's innovative yet accessible style, characterized by heavy guitar, symphonic arrangements, and her beautiful, powerful soprano voice, resonated deeply not only in Finland but throughout Europe. After leaving Nightwish in 2005, Tarja pursued a solo career while also engaging in classical concert activities. Her self-composed album, "My Winter Storm" (2007), reached number one on the Finnish music charts. Her popularity has also taken root in Finnish households, as evidenced by her role as a coach on television singing audition programs. Now, Tarja's live album, "Circus Life," is being released here in Japan. This album captures a special concert held in Bucharest with 16 musicians. Tarja performs with talented vocalists, including her brother Toni, and musicians at various stages of their careers. With minimalist costumes that highlight the music itself, the album captures a special time overflowing with joy, friendship, and improvisation among the performers.
