The mix by Zeus, aka Christopher Harris, is full of live energy! Heathen is one of the leading bands in the Bay Area thrash scene. Formed in 1984, they emerged a few years later than the first generation of Bay Area bands like Exodus and Metallica, and made their album debut in 1987 with "Breaking the Silence." Produced by Ronnie Montrose and featuring a cover of Sweet's "Set Me Free," this album became a big hit. However, Heathen then suffered troubles when their vocalist, bassist, and drummer left, causing them to stagnate. Eventually, vocalist David White returned, and by the time they released their second album, "Victims of Deception," four years had passed since their album debut. By then, thrash metal was already in decline. Furthermore, the band was struck by misfortune when bassist Randy Laird, who had joined after the release of their second album, died suddenly in a car accident, and they disbanded in despair. After nearly 10 years of silence, Heathen reunited in 2001, thanks to a charity concert by Chuck Billy and Chuck Schuldiner. Since then, they have occasionally performed live. Then in 2009, they released their third album, "The Evolution of Chaos," their first in 18 years, much to the delight of their longtime fans. In 2020, they released their fourth album, "Empire of the Blind," which became a big topic of conversation here in Japan as well. Now, Heathen is releasing a live album. After the release of "Empire of the Blind," they spent their days touring, performing hundreds of shows across five continents. As soon as lockdowns were lifted in 2022, they toured the world with bandmates such as Testament and Exodus. The culmination of all that activity is "Bleed the World: Live." Recorded in various US cities during the 2023 "Bleed the World Tour," this album features songs that cover their entire career, from recent tracks like "Sun in My Hand" and "The Blight" to classics like "Hypnotized" and "Goblin's Blade." Mixed by the legendary Zeus, Christopher Harris, the album captures the live atmosphere with a clear yet heavy sound.
