At that time, they were called Legacy, and Steve Zetro Souza was the frontman. In 1986, Steve was recruited by Exodus, so the current vocalist, Chuck Billy, joined. Also, because there was a jazz band with the same name, they changed their name to Testament. In 1987, they released their legendary first album, 'The Legacy', from Megaforce. During a time when Metallica's "Master of Puppets" had achieved massive commercial success and brought the Bay Area scene into the spotlight, Testament quickly became a hugely popular band. They continued to thrive at the forefront of the scene, even through the dark ages of metal in the 90s, without wavering or breaking up. Now, Testament's new album is being released.
