Formed in 1993 around Carl Sanders (Vocals, Guitar), the only remaining original member, they are veterans. After releasing several demos, they signed with the prestigious Relapse Records. In 1998, they made their album debut with "Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka." Their highly technical songs and original style, which draws heavily on Middle Eastern culture in both music and lyrics, have made them very popular. While releasing their second album, "Black Seeds of Vengeance," in 2000, their third album, "In Their Darkened Shrines," in 2002, and their fourth album, "Annihilation of the Wicked," in 2005, they were also characterized by frequent member changes. After that, they signed with major German label Nuclear Blast Records and released five studio albums: "Ithyphallic" (2007), "Those Whom the Gods Detest" (2009), "At the Gate of Sethu" (2012), "What Should Not Be Unearthed" (2015), and "Vile Nilotic Rites" (2019). Now, they are releasing their first new album in five years, "The Underworld Awaits Us All." Leaving Nuclear Blast, which had been their home for a long time, they have moved to Napalm.
