Product Description
Death Cab for Cutie, the veterans of the indie rock scene and eight-time Grammy nominees, will release their 11th studio album, "I Built You A Tower," on June 5th via ANTI- Records! After 20 years with Atlantic Records, the band has returned to their indie roots and signed with ANTI- Records. They have reaffirmed the core spirit that has guided their 30-year history, confronting their past selves and finding a new future. This album has a clear flow. It begins with creeping bad thoughts in "Pep Talk," confesses "I'm trying to hold it together" in "Stone Over Water," and then reveals the desperate confession that it's not working in the energetic "Riptides." "I Built You A Tower" depicts how all coping mechanisms crumble, yet still arrives at a determination to move forward. And in the end, the meaning of the "tower" itself changes. "I Built You A Tower" is the sound of loss, emotional isolation, and the moment when sadness overflows. But at the same time, it is the sound of growth that comes after the collapse. It is the sound of acknowledging the pain, but choosing not to let it destroy one's life. Following the global success of their 2023 tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their fourth album, "Transatlanticism," and the critical acclaim of their tenth album, "Asphalt Meadows," released in 2022, this tour will take them to 33 locations across North America (summer) and the UK/EU (autumn).
