Product Description
A dreamlike wandering. Memories of "world music" told by three double basses. A collection of works by three double bassists, both old and new. They present a variety of music, changing their performance style between solo, duo, and trio. As is well known, Isao Suzuki is one of Japan's leading double bassists. Even at the age of 80, he shows no signs of decline, and his unique musicality shines even brighter. Isao Nishikawa and Kazuya Uechi are musicians active in Okinawa. Nishikawa is a first-class musician who has collaborated not only with Okinawan musicians but also with top-class jazz musicians such as Yosuke Yamashita, Fumio Itabashi, and Shota Koyama. Uechi is currently one of the most talked-about musicians in Okinawa, working across genres such as jazz, rock, and island songs, and has produced works for Isamu Shimoji. This work began when Nishikawa and Uechi strongly desired to collaborate with Suzuki, whom they deeply respect. Suzuki readily accepted the offer from two younger musicians who play the same instrument, and this rare cross-generational double bass trio was realized. All recordings were made in Okinawa in June and July of last year. A relaxed mood is mixed with the excitement of their first meeting. The songs each of the three brought are full of individuality and never get boring. A precious album that imprints the possibilities of "world music" that go beyond jazz. Recorded in Okinawa.
