Inspired by the genre known as 80s Japanese city pop, mainly by Tatsuro Yamashita and Toshiki Kadomatsu, they began their activities to express city pop in their own interpretation. Frontman Muhammad Iqbal writes and composes all of their songs, and the band name ikkubaru is a Japanese Romanization of the pronunciation of iqbal. Their sound is also appealing because it shows various expressions by using Iqbal's high-pitched, sweet vocals and Rizki's soulful vocals. In 2019, they made their fifth visit to Japan and performed at ASIAN MUSIC JUNCTION vol.1 hosted by TBS Radio. He is also actively involved in providing songs, remixes, and collaborations for Japanese artists such as TWEEDEES, Wakita Monari, RYUTist, and Philosophy no Dance.
