A magnificent jazz suite in which jazz improvisation and the elegant sound of the orchestra, percussive parts and delicate, quiet sections appear and intersect alternately. Each sound blends, harmonizes, and constantly permeates one another, creating a sophisticated harmony that never ceases to grow tiresome. This work features S?aw S?awiek's complete composition, arrangement, orchestration, and score for all instruments, creating a grand sonic tapestry that blends jazz and classical music?including works by Prokofiev, Ravel, and Debussy. The accompanying orchestra is the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly the ??d? Philharmonic Orchestra), founded in 1915 and the second permanent symphony orchestra in the former Russian partitions after the Warsaw Philharmonic. Known worldwide as one of the finest orchestras, they have performed with many world-renowned soloists such as Mstislav Rostropovich and Krystian Zimerman, and also collaborated with Rubinstein, who was born in ??d?, at his last concert in Poland. This project commemorates the 25th anniversary of the annual summer festival held by the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic. S?awek was commissioned to compose a new piece for the festival, which he completed in six months. The album documents the concert in August, and is a large-scale project jointly funded by the Polish Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of National Heritage. It fuses jazz and classical ensembles, expressing dense and harmonically rich layers of music. The septet members are musicians with whom S?awek has been playing for the past few years, and he composed the piece with the timbres of each instrument, which he already knew, in mind. This masterpiece album is a culmination of S?awek's long-held desire to create a large ensemble sound palette, into which he has poured all his musical talent and experience.
