They won their first Grammy Award with their 2013 album 'Family Dinner vol.1', and their next album 'We Like It Here' took the world by storm, reaching number one on the iTunes charts. Then, in 2015, they released their major-label debut album (Impulse) with this album, 'Sylva'. This album, which is indispensable when talking about Snarky Puppy's career, has been newly remixed and remastered, and will be released with two bonus tracks that were recorded separately. The Metropole Orchestra, as one of the finest jazz orchestras, has collaborated with musicians from many genres, including Elves Costello, Al Jarreau, John Scofield, Vince Mendoza, and Robert Glasper, and continues to explore the possibilities of the large ensemble format. The string section's technique, in particular, is top-notch and perfectly embodies the "organic" theme of this album. Snarky Puppy's sound is from what could be called their first peak period, when Cory Henry (organ, etc.) and Robert "Sput" Searight (drums) were also participating. Originally an album where electric sounds played only with analog keyboards and orchestra were meticulously harmonized through arrangement and performance, this long-awaited remix and remaster clearly reveals the kind of "sound" they wanted to achieve. This album is a collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra, a leading Dutch jazz/pop orchestra, from 2014. It was recorded live at the Energy House in Dordrecht, Netherlands, with an audience of 300 people. The album also garnered attention for being recorded while the audience listened to the live sound through headphones. For this live performance, they used only analog instruments with the theme of "organic," and Michael League was in charge of the orchestral arrangements.
