This latest work is a further development of "The Sound of Listening," which for the first time integrated all areas of electronic and acoustic composition, and is a solo album that reflects everything he has at this point in his life, absorbing influences from acoustic jazz/beat music and his work with Brad Mehldau and David Bowie. He creates narrative sounds by handling all aspects himself, including drums, cymbals, percussion, piano, vibraphone, marimba, celesta, pump organ, Mellotron, synth (Jupiter-8), and spoken word. Not only is he a drummer and composer, but in recent years he has also shown a strong side as a philosopher. Similar to "The Sound of Listening," the album has a singer-songwriter instrumental tone and mindful songs, and the introspective piano pieces and the sublime synthesizer tapestries reach even greater heights than his previous works. The album structure starts with a percussive, trance-like tune, then moves to "KAMAKURA," which is heavily influenced by Eastern philosophy, followed by drums synchronized with electronics, piano pieces that are simple yet convey a meticulous sense of timing, and African-inspired loop drumming tunes.
