Her compositions draw inspiration from jazz, pop, indie rock, folk, Appalachian folk music, Irish music, and more. She possesses a sense for incorporating the rich rhythms and harmonies of jazz and world music, a talent for ensemble playing that skillfully utilizes string instruments, and outstanding vocal ability that is sought after by many artists. Furthermore, her recent work "Wonderbloom" showcased an approach to electric pop. She has built an outstanding career by constantly updating these elements. Beyond her solo work, she has also demonstrated a tremendous presence in collaborations with David Crosby's Lighthouse Band, Snarky Puppy, Jos? James, Jacob Collier, Brad Mehldau, Esperanza Spalding, Antonio Sanchez, and others, constantly keeping pace with the evolution of jazz. This compilation features selections from her debut album "T by C" (2008), the masterpiece "Waitress" (2011) which greatly expanded the possibilities of jazz, "Perfect Animal" (2014) which approached indie rock, "Regina" (2017) which connected her with the Snarky Puppy network, "Wonderbloom" (2020) which further developed that direction, and collaborative works that further expanded her individuality, such as "Becca Stevens & The Secret Trio" (2021) and "Becca Stevens | Attacca Quartet" (2022). From acoustic to electric, and through collaborations with her own band, the Attacca Quartet, and the Secret Trio, Becca's individuality is extracted from a variety of formats, while at the same time, the album as a whole has a narrative flow, with a selection of tracks that makes you feel like you're listening to a relaxed DJ set in your everyday life. Also, while Becca's albums often have a strong thematic element, listening to this album free from that attribute allows you to appreciate the quality of her music anew. The previously unreleased takes include "In The Midst" (from the album "T by C"), which was not included on the album with the Attacca Quartet; "I Wish" (from "Wonderbloom"), a studio live recording; "Slow Burn" (from "Wonderbloom" - a Grammy nominated song), which was streamed live from Sony Hall in New York during the pandemic and featured Michael Mayo, Keita Ogawa of Snarky Puppy, and Bob Lanzetti; and "105" (from "Perfect Animal"), a duo with Chris Tordini (b) of the Becca Stevens Band. These are all valuable takes.
