Introduction The first album from the newly reformed Sabaton, featuring new guitarist Tommy Johansson, is finally complete! In addition to the regular edition, a limited first edition is also available, which includes a history edition CD with added narration to the songs from "The Great War." Sabaton has conquered the world with their metal sound that combines heaviness and melody, dynamic live performances, and lyrics based on historical wars. They enjoy immense popularity on the European front, and in their home country of Sweden, they have consistently headlined their eponymous "Sabaton Open Air" festival and "Sabaton Cruises" onboard live shows. In 2012, they performed in front of an unprecedented crowd of 500,000 at the "Polish Woodstock" festival. In Japan, they performed at LOUD PARK in 2015 and 2017. In 2018, they co-headlined a tour with Amon Amarth and appeared at "Dark Night Carnival" with BABYMETAL, creating a major sensation in the metal community. It's still fresh in our memories that their previous album, "The Last Stand" (2016), included "Shiroyama," which depicted Saigo Takamori's final battle, and generated a lot of buzz. "The Great War" can be said to be the culmination of their 20 years of struggle. Joachim Brod?n, the band's frontman and vocalist, said the following about the album: "100% pure Sabaton. New guitarist Tommy Johansson joins the band for this album. He has already showcased his technical and melodic guitar playing at live shows in Japan, and has become known as a "lovable character" among Japanese fans for his on-stage antics with Joachim, but in this album he finally reveals his true colors. With its captivating and varied storyline, including "The Red Baron," depicting ace pilot Manfred von Richthofen, and "Fields of Verdun," focusing on the Battle of Verdun which resulted in 700,000 casualties, "The Great War" is the heaviest wedge of steel being driven into the metal world of 2019. Having performed a 20th-anniversary live show at Wacken Open Air in Germany, one of the world's largest metal festivals, and embarking on a massive world tour called "The Great Tour," this album serves as a fanfare for their march.
