Contents: A historic moment when the talent of the young lion John Sykes (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake/Blue Murder) blossomed! A legendary live performance from his heyday, igniting the nights of Nottingham in 1981! The N.W.O.B.H.M. (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) movement swept Britain from the late 1970s to the early 1980s, producing bands like Iron Maiden and Saxon. Tigers of Pan Tang (hereinafter referred to as Tigers), known for launching John Sykes' career, is an essential band that cannot be ignored when discussing this movement. After playing on "Spellbound" and "Crazy Nights" (both 1981), and the single "Love Potion No. 9" (1982), Sykes joined Thin Lizzy. Furthermore, he has become a top guitarist representing the hard rock/heavy metal scene with Whitesnake and Blue Murder. The Tigers are, in a sense, the band that represents Sykes' origins. This album, "Live 1981 ~ Hellbound Spellbound," captures a live performance at Nottingham Rock City on April 23rd, from the 1981 UK tour accompanying the release of "Spellbound," a masterpiece of hard rock/heavy metal. The band lineup at this time is said to be the strongest in the history of The Tigers, and in order to capture the energy of their live performance, Chris Tsangarides, who produced "Spellbound," recorded it at the Rolling Stones Mobile Studios, but it remained unreleased for many years. After being released once, it remained out of print for a long time until now, but it has now been brilliantly revived as a newly remixed and remastered edition. This album features a selection of songs primarily from their two albums, "Wildcat" and "Spellbound." 38 years after the albums' release, the tracks from "Spellbound" are reborn in a raw, exhilarating live version, and the songs from "Wildcat" have been transformed into something even more exciting with the addition of Sykes and Devaril. Sykes' forceful, bullet-like guitar solos are also superb. Since Sykes would leave the band a year later, this album is not only enjoyable as a live album, but also extremely valuable as a historical document. "Live 1981: Hellbound Spellbound" is a precious work that allows us to relive the glorious moment when they soared to great heights.
