Content Introduction Tri-State Corner, featuring Vasilios "Lucky" Maniatopoulos, the current drummer of the German metal band Rage, on vocals, and former Rage and current Refuge member Chris Efthimidis (drums), makes their Japanese debut with their fourth album, "Hero"! They are creating a new wave in the metal scene with their heavy yet lyrical and melodic music featuring the Greek folk instrument bouzouki! Tri-State Corner was formed in 2004 by Greek friends Lucky (vocals), Chris (drums), and Ioannis (bouzouki, vocals). Initially, they had a different name, but after member changes, Brat (guitar, backing vocals) and Polish member Markus (bass) joined, and the band changed its name. They debuted in 2007 with their 1st EP, "CHANGES". With this work, they developed a hard rock sound centered on minor-key vocal melodies, incorporating the bouzouki. Their subsequent 1st album, "ELA NA THIS" (2009), featured a more powerful and heavy sound overall, emphasizing melancholic melodies and a stronger Greek folk music feel through the bouzouki, successfully defining the band's individuality. Furthermore, their 2nd album, "HISTORIA" (2011), refined their vocal melodies and incorporated the bouzouki more effectively, adding depth to their songs. Their subsequent 3rd album, "HOME" (2014), also featured many songs where the bouzouki played a prominent role, along with mellow numbers, resulting in a work full of heartfelt vocals. Having released albums in this manner and performed over 450 live shows, establishing themselves as a live band in Europe, they released "Hero" after a four-year hiatus. This album, with its rich and weighty guitar sound and a diverse range of tracks from heavy numbers to mellow acoustic guitar tunes, is truly impressive, featuring Lucky's emotionally charged and lyrical vocal melodies that are deeply moving and resonate with the listener. The bouzouki, which sounds similar to a banjo, not only adds a touch of melancholy to the songs but also features thrilling solo parts, making this a work that fully showcases the charm of the bouzouki. Furthermore, it has been announced that he will be appearing as a special guest at Refuge's Japan tour next February, so he is sure to attract even more attention.
