Product Description
Content Introduction Don Airey, currently a member of Deep Purple and a master of British hard rock keyboards, is equally amazing as a solo artist! His 5th solo album, "One of a Kind," which condenses his career spanning over 40 years, is now on sale! The limited edition bonus live CD includes live takes from Rainbow, Deep Purple, and Gary Moore! Through his work with Rainbow, Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore, and others, Don Airey has brought fluid technique and a classical, heavy feel to hard rock. He has also participated in works by Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, UFO, Uli Jon Roth, and others, and it's certain that every rock fan's record shelf contains several albums on which Don played. Don, who has released works and toured as a solo artist alongside his work with numerous bands, presents his fifth album, a collaboration with veterans who have survived the battlefield of British hard rock/heavy metal. The members of Don's tour band moved directly to the studio and deliver a passionate performance of classic hard rock. Vocalist Carl Sentance is the current singer of Nazareth. He possesses a shout reminiscent of Ian Gillan and Dan McCafferty, and can also hit high notes. His career is long, having joined Persian Risk as the replacement for John Deverrill (who later moved to Tygers of Pan Tang), and has also been a member of Crocus and Dario Moroz Crossbones. With talented musicians like Simon McBride (guitar/Sweet Savage, Snake Charmer), Laurence Cottle (bass/Black Sabbath, Gary Moore), and John Finnegan (drums/Ian Gillan, Gang of Four), the sound adheres to the tradition of British hard rock. "Respect" and "All Out of Line" are hard rock directly in the vein of Deep Purple. Don's prominent keyboard playing also evokes the legendary band "Gillan" that Ian Gillan led in the 1980s. From the oriental-influenced "Victim of Pain," reminiscent of Rainbow's "Stargazer," to the jazzy piano-driven "Running Free," the soulful British power ballad "Want You So Bad," and the poignant instrumental "Remember to Call," this single album condenses Don's career spanning over 40 years. The sound, which only a living legend of British hard rock could create, exudes an almost awe-inspiring quality. The bonus CD includes four live takes from his March 14, 2017 performance in Hamburg, Germany. Don breathes new life into classic songs he's been involved with, such as "Pictures of Home" (Deep Purple), "Since You Been Gone" (Rainbow), "I Surrender" (Rainbow), and "Still Got the Blues" (Gary Moore), on stage.
