Content Introduction Overkill, the thrash metal band from New Jersey whose passionate performance at "LOUD PARK 2017" is still fresh in our memories, has finally released "Live in Overhausen," a live album capturing their historic anniversary show in which they performed two albums, "FEEL THE FIRE" (1985) and "HORRORSCOPE" (1991), in their entirety in one night! This is the first live work in a long time from Overkill, the American thrash metal band from New Jersey that emerged in the 80s and has walked a trajectory of fierce battles. As a live album, this is their first since "WRECKING EVERYTHING" released in 2002, and as a live video release, it is their first since "LIVE AT WACKEN OPEN AIR 2007" released in 2008. This film, "Live in Oberhausen," was filmed and recorded in Oberhausen, Germany on April 16, 2016, and the show that night was truly special, even by today's standards. To date, this was the first and last time they would perform a live show like this. It was held to commemorate the 25th and 30th anniversaries of their fifth album, "Horrorscope," released in 1991, and their debut album, "Feel the Fire," released in 1985, respectively, and incredibly, they performed all the songs from both albums back-to-back in one night. Originally, there was a contract between Overkill and their label, Nuclear Blast, to produce and release a live album/DVD, but the idea of ??performing all the songs from both albums consecutively came from the band themselves. "Every band makes a DVD documenting a live performance that recreates an entire album. We doubled our thinking and decided to do the equivalent of two albums in one night," Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (vocals) later said. The lineup consisted of Blitz himself, D.D. Verni (bass), who had led the band with him for 38 years, the guitar team of Dave Linsk and Derek Taylor, who had become firmly established in the band over the past 20 years, and Eddie Garcia, who had joined as a replacement for the then-drummer Ron Lipnicki. "HORRORSCOPE" was the first album to feature "twin guitars = a five-piece Overkill" lineup, and the band's lineup at the time consisted of Blitz and D.D., Merritt Gant (guitar), formerly of FAITH OR FEAR, Rob Canavino (guitar), and a Danish drummer who had been in PAUL DI'ANNO'S BATTLEZONE. This album, the first to be produced with the assumption that there would be two guitarists, is more dynamic than the previous Overkill sound and gave rise to important Overkill live repertoire tracks such as "Koma," "Thanks for Nothing," and "Horrorscope." Incidentally, "Frankenstein" is a cover version of Edgar Winter's song, and to date, this is the first and last time that an Overkill album has included a cover song. And of course, 'FEEL THE FIRE' was produced with the original four-member Overkill lineup: Blitz, D.D., Bobby Gustafson (guitar), and Rat Scates (drums). At the time, many thrash metal bands were emerging from the Bay Area on the West Coast of America, but Overkill, as a representative of East Coast thrash metal, made a spectacular debut with thrash metal that strongly reflected the influence of British heavy metal, while also possessing a gothic horror-like darkness and a punk rock edge. While Overkill's sound has undergone some fine-tuning and adjustments over the past 33 years, the fundamental foundation remains the album "FEEL THE FIRE," and the unique sound they presented on this debut album is undoubtedly still alive in their current Overkill style. Furthermore, after completely recreating both albums, they unleash a torrent of SUBHUMANS' cover "Fuck You," which invariably serves as the finale to their live shows?a truly exhilarating experience. This album, "Live in Overhausen," fully captures the anniversary live performances of two albums indispensable to Overkill's history. A must-have item for Overkill fans and thrash metal fans alike.
