Contents: The debut album "Nocturnes and Requiems" by Witherfall, a progressive metal band formed by Jake Dreyer (formerly of Kobra and the Lotus), Joseph Michael (White Wizzard), and Adam Sagan (White Empress), is set for release! This album features Adam's final drumming performance before his death from cancer in 2016! The progressive metal band WITHERFALL was formed in October 2013 in Los Angeles, California, USA. The founding members were Jake Dreyer (guitar), Joseph Michael (vocals), and Adam Sagan (drums). Jake is a former member of the traditional heavy metal band WHITE WIZZARD, which performed in Japan in 2012, and KOBRA AND THE LOTUS, a Canadian female-fronted traditional heavy metal band that made headlines for being the first artist signed to Simmons Records, a new label founded by Gene Simmons of KISS. He has also played in other bands such as DEATHRIDERS, led by former ANTHRAX vocalist Neil Turbin, and JAG PANZER, which is highly regarded by metal enthusiasts. He is currently a member of the veteran traditional heavy metal band ICED EARTH, and is currently playing on their latest album, "INCORRUPTIBLE". Joseph is the frontman for several traditional heavy metal bands. He is also a former member of WHITE WIZZARD, and played alongside Jake on their 3rd album, "THE DEVIL'S CUT," released in 2013. He is also known as the cousin of the late, great vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Adam has showcased his virtuoso skills in a wide range of bands, from progressive metal to death metal, including CIRCLE II CIRCLE, INTO ETERNITY, WHITE EMPRESS, and ECHOTERRA, and he also played on Jake's 2011 solo single "IN THE SHADOWS OF MADNESS." Incidentally, "Harmony of the Spheres," which is included on this solo single, is also featured in the popular American rhythm video game series "ROCK BAND." Having hit it off while collaborating with Jake, they formed WITHERFALL, and later Anthony Crawford, a renowned bassist known for his work with Allan Holdsworth and Virgil Dennerty, joined the band. The band began self-producing their first album at the end of 2014. The band enlisted Ralph Patran, known for his work with Megadeth and MSG, as the engineer. Mixing and mastering were handled by Chris "Zeus" Harris, who has worked with Rob Zombie, Queensr?che, and Hatebreed. In August 2017, they signed a worldwide contract with Century Media Records, and this debut album, titled "Nocturne and Requests," was finally released. The album cover was designed by Christian Vorlin, who has worked on many projects for artists such as Bathory, Dissection, and Edge of Sanity. Sadly, Adam passed away from malignant lymphoma on December 7, 2016, making this album his last work. With its lineup of highly skilled musicians, WITHERFALL's progressive and dark melodic album is sure to bring a breath of fresh air to the scene. It is truly regrettable that Adam passed away before he could witness it, but the final performance he recorded on this album will forever shine brightly. The band has now added Steve Boronez on drums and Fili Bibiano as their second guitarist, and they continue to move forward without stopping.
