Contents Introduction Leo Leoni (guitar) of the Swiss nationally popular hard rock band Gotthard launches a new project, "Core Leoni"! To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of their 1st album "Gotthard," they have re-recorded early songs such as "Downtown" and "Fire Dance"! Ronnie Romero (vocals), familiar from Lords of Black and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, and Hena Herbegger (drums) of the current Gotthard also participate! Gotthard was formed in 1991, centered around Steve Lee (vocals) and Leo Leoni (guitar). The band debuted with the album "Gotthard" (1992), and with their robust sound, AC/DC-like beats and catchy vocal melodies, their 2nd album "Dial Hard" (1994) reached No. 1 on the Swiss national charts, and since then, every album they have released has routinely reached No. 1 on the charts in their home country. Gotthard became a popular band not only in Switzerland but also in Europe and Japan. Everything seemed to be going smoothly for Gotthard, but tragedy struck on October 5, 2010. During their off-season, Steve was touring America by motorcycle with 21 friends when a trailer skidded and crashed into them while they were taking a break on the side of the road. The parked motorcycle struck Steve directly. Steve never made it back. In their grief, the band decided to continue, and after auditions, they welcomed Nick Maeder to the band, and they continue to perform to this day. Amidst all this, Leo Leoni decided to personally create a tribute to their first album, "Gotthard," to commemorate its 25th anniversary. This "The Greatest Hits Part 1" features re-recorded tracks such as "Fire Dance," "Downtown," and "All I Care For" from their first album "Got Hard," "Higher," "Get It While You Can," and "Here Comes the Heat" from their second album "Dial Hard," and "In the Name," "Let It Be," and "Ride On" from their third album "G." (1996), along with a new song, "Walk on Water." In addition to Leo, the recording features four musicians: Ronnie Romero (vocals), known for his work with Lords of Black and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow; Hena Herbegger (drums), currently with Gotthard; Igor Gianola (guitar), who played as a touring member for Gotthard from 1993 to 1995 and also played with U.D.O. and Jorn; and Mira Marker (bass), who played in Switzerland with bands such as Planet Crash and Caranx. The re-recorded songs are basically played in a style close to the originals, but the modern, full sound and skilled playing give each track a fresh brilliance. Ronnie's vocal quality is similar to Steve's, which is one of the biggest appeals of this work, as it allows listeners to hear Gotthard songs without any sense of incongruity, and it can be said that this album is a great way to rediscover the brilliance of Gotthard's music in a new form.
