Synopsis We Came As Romans, from Michigan, USA, are back and more powerful than ever! Positive messages sung with more emotion, grander scale, and sometimes fiercer! The exquisite balance of harmony and chaos, and the incorporation of electro elements, represent the future of modern metalcore! Last year, We Came As Romans, a metalcore band from Detroit, Michigan, moved to SharpTone Records along with Miss May I, Attila, and others. Their fifth album, and first full-length studio album since the move, "Cold Like War," is now complete. Despite a change in members due to the departure of their drummer, the album remains a catchy, beautiful, grand, and pure metalcore sound. They formed their predecessor band, This Emergency, in 2005. After several member changes, they changed their name to their current name the following year. In 2008, they independently released the EP "Dreams" and the 4-track mini-album "Demonstrations." Since then, the band has built their strength by spending as much time as possible on tour. In April 2009, they signed with major independent label EQUAL VISION, and in November of the same year, they released their debut album "To Plant a Seed." It immediately debuted at number 175 on the US Top 200 album chart. Their next album, "Understanding What We've Grown To Be" (2011), made a leap to number 21 on the chart. The chain of success continued, with their third album "Tracing Back Roots" (2013) rising to number 8 (number 1 on the US Indie chart), and their fourth album "We Came as Romans" (2015) reaching number 11 (number 2 on the US Indie chart), and they have continued to achieve results, becoming a name known to virtually every rock fan in the United States. The greatest factor in We Came As Romans' success is not only their nationwide fame built on tour after tour, but also the high quality of their songwriting and their sophisticated sense of balance. Their music, which can be described as large-scale metalcore, is characterized by a metallic and aggressive sound that incorporates a hardcore scale, while also having a unique lyricism created by adding an electronic touch. Furthermore, the addition of melodic vocals and hooks gives it a moderate pop feel. In 2016, drummer Eric Choi left the band, citing that he was "moving on to the next chapter in his life." Overcoming the departure of a member who had participated in all of their previous four albums, they released a new song that same year, "Wasted Age," a heavy track that seemed to be a return to their roots, raising expectations for a new album. And that album is "Cold Like War." Each of their albums contains a specific message as an overall concept. It's always a positive message, about "love" and "compassion." This album represents all kinds of "adversity" in various forms. They powerfully, heavily, and intensely sing about sadness, anger, hatred, and the struggle to control emotions, while also highlighting the folly of violence. Everything is thrilling, energetic, and catchy. This is the greatest masterpiece from one of the best modern metalcore bands, released to the world. In 2017, a new era was dawned.
