Content Introduction Germany's leading thrash metal band, Destruction, has released their second re-recorded album, "Thrash Anthem II," featuring covers of their early songs! DESTRUCTION is recognized as one of the leading German thrash metal bands, alongside KREATOR and SODOM. They are commonly known as the "Big Three of German Thrash." Some consider Tankard to be one of the "Big Four of German Thrash," but in any case, DESTRUCTION is one of the most important bands that occupies a key position in the top group of the German thrash metal scene. Before the production of their fourth full-length album, "CRACKED BRAIN," released in 1990, the band experienced the unusual situation of firing their frontman, Schmier (bass, vocals). However, in 1999, before the production of their sixth full-length album, "ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE" (released in 2000), Mike (guitar) and Schmier overcame their past animosity and reconciled, resulting in Schmier's surprise return. While several drummers have been involved, including Sven Vormann (1999-2001), Mark Laing (2002-2010), and Vervell (2010-present), Schmier and Mike, who are central to songwriting, remain tightly bonded. Since returning to their full lineup, they have consistently released original studio albums such as "ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE" (mentioned above), their seventh album "THE ANTICHRIST" (2001), their eighth album "METAL DISCHARGE" (2003), their ninth album "INVENTOR OF EVIL" (2005), their tenth album "D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N." (2008), their eleventh album "DAY OF RECKONING" (2011), their twelfth album "SPIRITUAL GENOCIDE" (2012), and their thirteenth album "UNDER ATTACK" (2016). Among these, "THRASH ANTHEMS," released in 2007, was a concept album created with the aim of re-recording many of Destruction's representative early songs with the latest lineup (it also included two new songs). The album included not only songs they always play live, such as "Bestial Invasion," "Mad Butcher," "Total Desaster," and "Curse The Gods," but also a number of songs that symbolize their early albums. One of the things that generated buzz was the re-recording of the title track from "CRACKED BRAIN," which was made after Schmier's departure. Ten years later, the second album of re-recorded early songs, "THRASH ANTHEMS II," has been released. This time, a different approach has been taken compared to the previous album. The songs were selected by fan votes, and the re-recorded tracks were chosen based on those votes. Therefore, it is not mostly famous songs like the last one, but rather selections that only DESTRUCTION fans would make, unique songs that are less flashy on the album but shine brightly, and even a re-recorded version of "Front Beast," which was included on their demo tape "BESTIAL INVASION OF HELL" (1984), a recording from before their debut album.
