DELAIN, which started in 2002 with former WITHIN TEMPTATION keyboardist Matain Westerholt and debuted in 2006 with the "all-star album" "LUCIDITY" featuring many guest artists, was initially Matain's solo project. However, as they soon began performing live, the band lineup solidified with Matain and singer Charlotte Wessels at its core, and they released their second album, "APRIL RAIN," in 2009. Since then, despite several member changes, they continued to release albums, moving between metal and rock with a gothic and symphonic sound: their third album "WE ARE THE OTHERS" ('12), the EP "INTERLUDE" ('13), their fourth album "THE HUMAN CONTRADICTION" ('14), the EP "LUNAR PRELUDE" ('16), and their fifth album "MOONBATHERS" ('16). They released numerous hit singles and steadily expanded their tours, establishing themselves as a top act in their native Netherlands. Furthermore, they toured energetically not only in their native Europe but also in North and South America and Asia (they first came to Japan in '13), eventually gaining a wide following as a globally recognized band. As of 2016, the band lineup consisted of Charlotte [Vo], Matain [Key], Timo Somers [G], Merrell Bechtold [G], Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oye [B], and Ruben Israel [Ds], with these six members coming together in 2015. Guitarists Timo and Merrell are both well-known in the Dutch HR/HM scene, with the former playing in VENGEANCE and the latter in MAYAN and THE GENTLE STORM?in fact, Timo is the son of Jan Somers, the guitarist for VENGEANCE who passed away in 2011. The recording of "A DECADE OF DELAIN - LIVE AT PARADISO" took place on December 10, 2016, at Paradiso in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Originally a Neo-Roman church, this historic live music venue boasts a magnificent interior that evokes a sense of history, making it an ideal setting for a video recording. As mentioned above, the guest lineup is also incredibly impressive, featuring Alissa White-Gluz [Vo] of ARCH ENEMY, Burton C.
