Their modern yet straightforward hardcore sound is a powerful masterpiece guaranteed to incite moshing and singalongs! Comeback Kid is a hardcore punk band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The band's name comes from a newspaper headline about Mario Lemieux, a professional ice hockey player in the country and considered one of the greatest players in NHL history. It means "a person who falls but rises again." Mario was a legendary hockey player who, from the mid-80s to the 90s, was rumored to retire many times due to repeated injuries, but always made a comeback and achieved great success. Andrew Neufeld, the vocalist of Figure Four (now inactive), a somewhat well-known band in the Canadian hardcore scene, started this as a side project, initially playing guitar in the band. They released a six-track demo, which quickly gained attention among avid hardcore fans worldwide. After touring extensively across North America, they released their debut album, "Turn It Around," on Facedown Records in 2003. They embarked on another long tour and performed at various festivals. Signing with Victory Records, they enlisted Bill Stevenson (of Descendents, All, and Black Flag) and Jason Livemore as producers for their second album, "Wake the Dead" (2005). This album was critically acclaimed internationally, further solidifying their position as a hardcore punk band. Following this, they undertook another long tour. After the tour, original vocalist Scott Wade left the band. Newfeld, originally a singer, took on the role of vocalist for the band, and they released their 3rd album, "Broadcasting?c" (2007). In 2008, they released the CD+DVD "Through The Noise," which includes a documentary of Comeback Kid's six-year history. They continued to release albums steadily, with "Symptoms + Cures" in 2010 and "Die Knowing" in 2014, and touring continuously in between. From Southeast Asia to South America and mainland Europe, they have played countless live shows for over 15 years, and Newfeld says they "have always been proud to play in as many places as possible." They are an extremely popular and well-known band in Japan, having performed five times since their first visit in 2005. Comeback Kid's music is a modern yet old-school hardcore. They blend memorable melodies, fast parts, passionate singalongs, breakdowns leading into mosh parts, and an exciting sound that also includes metallic elements. Every song has a sing-along section, the vocal melodies are catchy, and the riffs are fast-paced. Their sixth album overall, "Outsider," and their first release since leaving Victory Records and signing with Nuclear Blast, was created with the idea of ??"refining what we always do and incorporating new elements." True to their word, there aren't any major changes from their previous work, but everything is more powerful, and every track is a killer tune perfect for live performances. Famous artists from the same country, such as Devin Townsend (known for his work with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) and Chris of FLATLINERS, make guest appearances.
