GWAR's 14th album, "The Blood of Gods," is released! In ancient times, GWAR descended from the edge of the universe onto a muddy sphere called "Earth." They wiped out the dinosaurs and became the ancestors of humankind by raping apes. Hating their own hideous descendants, they were trapped in the ice of Antarctica for a long time, but have now been released and started their activities as a heavy metal band. Formed in 1984, GWAR gained worldwide attention with "Scum Dogs of the Universe" (1990), released on the prestigious metal indie label "Metal Blade Records." They are also known for their love of Japan, as evidenced by their title of a live album recorded in Pittsburgh, "Live From Mt. Fuji." Their 14th studio album, "The Blood of Gods," is their first new album since Auderas Urangas (human name Dave Brockey) lost his immortality on March 23, 2014, and was killed by his own sword. With the addition of vocalist Brosser the Bazarkar (human name Michael Bishop), the album depicts Viking death machines, presidential assassination plots, the slaughter of humanity, and the horrors of death from obesity. An apocalyptic worldview reminiscent of Ragnarok from Norse mythology unfolds. Driven by a ferocious metal sound, GWAR's destructive impulses, sung with cries of "Kill! Rape! Burn!", remain unwavering even after more than 30 years since their debut. This album is also a requiem dedicated to Auderus. In "Fuck This Place," they mourn his soul in a way typical of GWAR, sang, "Auderus, you left us behind in this filthy world!" In "Phantom Limb," they liken the sense of loss they feel after losing him to "phantom limb pain" (the feeling of pain in a missing body part), expressing that they still feel his presence. The album closes with a cover of AC/DC's "Bloody Scream," reborn with a GWAR-esque arrangement. Produced by Ronan Chris Murphy, who has mixed for King Crimson, Wolver, Bozzio/Levin/Stevens, the sound proves that GWAR is still full of lethal force.
