An anniversary edition of the live album "Alive '95" (1996), which captures the European tour in support of the masterpiece "Land of the Free" (1995), is now available with a bonus CD! All tracks remastered in 2017! The bonus CD includes live recordings from 1993 featuring Ralph Scheepers on vocals! Kai Hansen (g, vo), an original member of Helloween, left the band in 1989 for health reasons, leaving behind masterpieces such as "Keeper of the Seven Keys" (1987) and "Keeper of the Seven Keys" (1988). After that, Kai began writing songs, and in September of the same year, he started recording a new project with Ralph Scheepers (vo), formerly of Tyrann Pace. Ultimately, this project became a permanent band called Gamma Ray, and they made their debut in February 1990 with the album "Heading for Tomorrow." After "Heading for Tomorrow" was critically acclaimed in Europe and Japan, the band released their second album, "Sigh No More" (1991), and their third album, "Insanity and Genius" (1993). However, when Ralf left the band to audition for the vocalist position in Judas Priest, Kai took on lead vocals as well, and together with Dirk Schlechter (guitar), Jan Lubach (bass), and Thomas Nack (drums), they released their fourth album, "Land of the Free" (1995). "Land of the Free," with its collection of dramatic songs, received critical acclaim, and the band embarked on a European tour starting in October 1995. From these recordings, live performances were captured in five locations: Milan, Italy; Erlangen, Germany; Paris, France; and Madrid and Bamblona, ??Spain. The band's first live album, "Alive '95," compiled a selection of tracks, primarily from the Madrid recordings. Approximately half of the tracks on this live album are from "Land of the Free," and it captures the exciting performances of the band and the enthusiastic audience, creating a truly immersive experience. It also includes two Helloween covers. The newly added bonus disc contains six live tracks from 1993, when Ralph Scheepers was still in the band, in support of "Insanity and Genius," offering another chance to enjoy a heated performance. All tracks have been remastered, improving the sound quality. The result is a work that fully showcases Gamma Ray's appeal as a live band.
