In fact, music in that vein is still thriving today, but German metal is more than just that. It has a history of producing many excellent bands that can compete on a global level, including the so-called "Thrash Trio" of Sodom, Destruction, and Kreator, as well as highly individualistic bands like Rammstein. And as evidenced by the large-scale festivals held every year, it is a country enveloped in a deep "love for metal." HR/HM has always been popular, and both the major and underground scenes are always active, with new bands constantly emerging. Let us introduce this new band that has suddenly appeared in the German scene. Introducing Supernova PlasmaJets, featuring female singer Jennifer Crush. First, take a look at their appearance. The members are clad in patched denim jackets and metal t-shirts. Surrounded by men who exude youth and a love for metal, Jennifer, the only woman, stands out with her colorful presence. For some reason, a large boombox is placed in the center, which gives off a strangely retro vibe. You can somehow sense that this band is thoroughly committed to having fun. They released their first single, "Reign In Plasma," in 2014 and quickly gained popularity in Germany, opening for various bands. For example, screamo band Eskimo Callboy, parody metal band J.B.O., Sodom leader Tom Angelripper's solo project Onkel Tom, Italian nu-metal band Exilia from Milan, and Sinner, led by Matt Sinner, a traditional metal band that has been active since 1982, among others. They seem to have honed their skills through numerous live performances, and now this debut album has arrived. Their sound could be summed up in one word: "80s-style hard rock band." However, listening to the album, you'll realize that their sound is more complex than that. The hard drive created by the LA metal-esque guitar sound is complemented by catchy melodies. Some songs have an 80s melodic hard rock feel, yet they also possess an exquisite pop sensibility that doesn't sound dated. The simple yet dramatic songs will thrill those who remember that era, and will sound fresh to those who don't. Jennifer Crush's dazzling and supple vocals are also very impactful. She reportedly received vocal lessons from a man named Hagen Chloe during the recording. Incidentally, this Hagen is German and the same person who participated in the Joe Perry Project album "Have Guitar, Will Travel," released in 2009. The engineer is Nils Lesser, formerly of Beyond the Black and currently of Cypecore. It's unclear whether 80s metal is experiencing a revival, but the emergence of this sophisticated band, Supernova PlasmaJets, could very well spark a sudden boom. They are a promising new star that evokes nostalgia for the 80s while also hinting at a broader future.
