Formed in Germany in 1997 as a project by guitarist Marco Heubaum, Xandria has gained support for their metal sound featuring female vocals and grand symphonic arrangements. Despite numerous member changes, their album "Sacrificium" (2014), featuring Dutch vocalist Dian van Hiersvegen, was a hit, reaching number 25 on the German national charts. Their EP "Fire & Ashes," which includes new songs, remakes, and covers, has also received high praise throughout Europe. And in 2017, aiming for even greater success, they released their new album, "Theatre of Dimensions," to challenge the world. Regarding this seventh album, the band says, "It's a genre-transcending musicality. With a bolder sound, it invites listeners into the 'Theatre of Dimensions'?a multidimensional theater." Dean's vocals are sometimes powerful, sometimes graceful, creating exquisite harmonies with the heavy sound. The addition of strings, a thick choir, and the Celtic instrument Uilleann pipes brings together a metal opera that is accompanied by an incredible sense of exhilaration. From the opulent symphonic metal of "Where the Heart Is Home," to the European-flavored instrumental "Caylee," and the breathtakingly dramatic epic "A Theater of Dimensions" that unfolds for 14 and a half minutes, the heaviness and melody surge without ceasing. The album was produced by Joost van den Broek, who has worked with Epica and After Forever. A stellar lineup of guest musicians, including Bj?rn Strid (Soilwork), Henning Basse (Firewind), Zaher Zorgati (Milas), and Ross Thompson (Van Canto), contributed to making the album even more colorful.
