Contents: Tesla, who were active in the 80s heavy metal scene and played a part in sparking the unplugged boom of the 90s, have released a live album to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album, "Mechanical Resonance" (1986)! It includes all the tracks from "Mechanical Resonance," plus studio recordings written by Phil Collen of Def Leppard! A fitting work to celebrate the anniversary of the masterpiece "Mechanical Resonance" is now complete! In 1986, Tesla emerged from Sacramento, California, with their debut album "Mechanical Resonance." Their melodic hard rock with bluesy and soulful elements, which set them apart from the mainstream pop metal of the time, attracted attention, and the album sold over 1 million copies in the US alone. Riding on that momentum, their second album, "The Great Radio Controversy" (1989), saw the ballad "Love Song" reach number 10 on the US singles chart, marking a major breakthrough for the band. In 1990, they held an acoustic set, a rarity at the time, and released the recording as "Five Man Acoustic Jam" (1990), which reached number 12 on the US charts, with the single "Signs" reaching number 9. This helped to spark the rise of MTV Unplugged in the 90s. After sending their third album, "Psychotic Supper" (1991), to number 13 on the US charts, they released their fourth album, "Bust a Nut" (1994), which incorporated heavier elements to adapt to changing times. However, the band, facing a dead end, chose to disband in 1996. Reunited in 2000, Tesla released their comeback album "Into the Now" (2004), their 6th album "Forever More" (2008), and their 7th album "Simplicity," while also releasing cover albums and live albums. In between, they actively performed live, including participating in "LOUD PARK 07" in 2007. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album "Mechanical Resonance," they completed a live album, "Mechanical Resonance Live," in which they played all the tracks from "Mechanical Resonance." The current Tesla consists of five members: Jeff Keith (vocals), Frank Hannon (guitar), Brian Wheat (bass), Troy Luketta (drums), and Dave Rude (guitar) (original member Tommy Scheeow left in 2006). The recorded live performance, which starts with "Rock Me to the Top," is not a so-called complete reproduction of the album's track order, but rather a selection of songs chosen to be easier to play and to energize a live audience. Some of the songs haven't been played in years, and the album conveys the band's enjoyment of playing. Furthermore, the bonus track is "Save That Godness," a song provided by Phil Collen of Def Leppard, who was once under the same management and toured with Tesla when "Mechanical Resonance" was released. It's an intriguing track that sounds like a mix of Def Leppard and Tesla. Thirty years have passed since the release of "Mechanical Resonance."
