This project was initiated by Mark Mengie, director of the audio equipment manufacturer "Samsung Technologies." The album "Metal Allegiance" is a super project created by the founder of "Metal Masters," an annual instrument clinic event and jam session featuring a star-studded lineup of artists, together with musicians he has connections with. The core members of the project are Alex Skolnick (guitar/Testament), Dave Ellefson (bass/Megadeth), and Mike Portnoy (drums/Dream Theater/Winery Dogs). Guest artists participate in each song on the album. "A multi-supergroup that goes beyond a supergroup" (Skolnick), "An ironclad solidarity where metal fans play for metal fans. This project officially started in 2014 with the ocean cruise "Motorboard," headlined by Mot?rhead. Chuck Billy (Testament), Scott Ian & Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), Phil Anselmo (Pantera/Down), Phil Campbell (Mot?rhead), and others took to the stage, performing numerous classics by Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio, Kiss, Rush, and Pantera, receiving thunderous applause. With this album, "Metal Allegiance," they take it a step further, with all tracks being original new songs. While inheriting the traditions of metal, they don't rely on its "style," but rather create metal that is evolving in the present, which is a testament to their respect for metal.
