John Wetton, Geoff Downes, and Carl Palmer, with new guitarist Sam Coulson, released the album "Gravitus" in 2014, a song that reflects on the passage of time. After their Japan tour in September 2012 to commemorate their 30th anniversary, Steve Howe left the band. However, the members, who had built the foundation of progressive rock with bands such as King Crimson, Yes, and EL&P, immediately began writing new songs and simultaneously started searching for a replacement guitarist. Sam Coulson, a British guitarist born in 1987, has joined the band as a new member. Younger than the band's formation, he rose to prominence after his talent was recognized by Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big) and Walter Trout, leading to his recruitment into the band. His hard-edged riffs and technical lead playing breathe new life into Asia. The resulting album, "Gravitus," inherits the progressive romance of the original Asia while regaining a youthful spirit. From "Walk?re," which is sure to become one of their new signature songs, to the epic rock of "Gravitus," the classically chord-driven "Russian Dolls," and the graceful ballad "Joe DiMaggio's Grove," a dramatic aesthetic permeates the album. The limited edition CD includes bonus tracks: acoustic versions of "The Closer I Get to You" and "Joe DiMaggio's Grove." The bonus DVD features live footage from their 2013 concert in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, including performances of "Heat of the Moment," as well as a music video for the new song "Valkyrie." The Japanese edition also includes an acoustic version of "Russian Dolls," offering a different worldview from the main album. A tour of Japan with the new lineup has also been announced for June. The story of Asia continues.
