Assisa Brahim is a female singer-songwriter born in that land and currently active in Spain, the former colonial power. Her grandmother was the great poet Rujadra Mint Mabrock, but her father died in the conflict, and she herself experienced hardship from a young age, moving from refugee camp to refugee camp. In this album, she writes and performs her own "songs of longing for home," creating a global sound that feels more traditional and progressive than ever before. Furthermore, Spanish female musician Amparo S?nchez, whom she has long admired, participates as a guest, and they perform a powerful duet.
