Featuring Marco Pastorino (vocals) of Temperance and others, this is the first new album in two years since their previous work, which showcased Dream Theater-esque progressive metal! Virtual Symmetry, a Swiss-based progressive metal band that started in 2009 as a solo project by guitarist Valerio Esil Villa, is releasing their 3rd album, two years after 2020's 'Exoverse' (RBNCD-1313)! In 2021, they released 'Exoverse Live', a limited edition 4-disc live album that included a video of a complete 'Exoverse' performance. After that, they smoothly began production on this album. While their previous album was a highly talked-about release, featuring recordings at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios, mixing by Sascha Peet (AVANTASIA, etc.), and participation from Jordan Rudess, keyboardist of Dream Theater, this new album keeps guests to a minimum, focusing instead on the performance of the five core members, centered around leader Valerio. The band stated that they consciously aimed to add new elements to their previous style with this new album. This is most evident in the title track, "Virtual Symmetry," the first song bearing the band's name. This epic 20-minute piece is composed of three parts. Other tracks, such as "Come Alive," a commercial song for which a music video was produced, also show an evolution from their previous work with its compact style. The rest of the album is full of catchy, melodic, and progressive numbers. The lyrics express their thoughts on current world affairs and deliver a positive message. One of the highlights of this album is the even greater presence of lead singer Marco Pastorino compared to their previous work. While he is a guitarist in his own band, TEMPERANCE, in recent years he has expanded his activities as a vocalist, utilizing his overwhelming vocal power in bands such as Bob Kattionis' (OUTLOUD, etc.) WONDERS and Georg Newhauser's (SERENITY) FALLEN SANCTUARY. Pay attention to this album, which is sure to become a representative work of theirs and of European progressive metal!
