Formed in New York in 1980 by David "Rock" Feinstein (vocals, guitar) and Carl Canedy (drums), the band released their major-label debut album, "The Rods," in 1981. One of the tracks, "Power Lover," became the band's signature song, and they were compared to Y&T, who debuted from San Francisco around the same time. They were praised by Masanori Ito as "Y&T of the West, RODS of the East," and had a smooth start to their career. Their second album, "Wild Dogs," released the following year in 1982, also received great support from metal fans. After that, although they continued to release albums, they were unable to release them in Japan, and the band entered a period of decline. They temporarily ceased activities in 1987, and the members went their separate ways. During that time, drummer Carl became a producer and was very active, producing many metal bands such as Anthrax, Exciter, Overkill, and Possessed. Then, in 2008, the original lineup of David, Carl, and Gary reunited, and in 2011 they released their comeback album "Vengeance," resuming their energetic activities. In 2019, they released their second comeback album, "Brotherhood Of Metal"! This Japanese edition includes a special bonus track: a 35th-anniversary version of their debut EP, "Crank It Up," released in '80 before their album debut!
